Vaseline glass kicking off April 7-8 single-owner glass auction
More than 500 items of Vaseline glass, from a single collection, will headline a two-day sale April 7-8 at Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates.
MT. CRAWFORD, Va. — Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates will continue the dispersal of 20,000+ pieces of 19th and early 20th century glass collected by the late Edward Kleppinger, PhD of New Orleans, Louisiana. The next auction featuring items from this collection includes a robust selection of Vaseline glass. It is set for April 7 and 8, and will begin at 9:30 a.m. each day.
Dr. Kleppinger had collected glass for more than 30 years. In 2010, established the Ruby Stain Museum in New Orleans, which housed the world’s largest collection of ruby-stained pattern glass. He also collected many other types of glass.
Examples of Vaseline Glass Will Set the Path
Session one of this auction will be begin with Vaseline glass of all types. This includes selections of
EAPG, Greentown, Hobbs, novelties, blown and pressed opalescent. The second half of session one and all of session two will comprise over 1,000 lots of ruby-stained, amber-stained, and other colors of stained EAPG. This will include examples in a wide variety of patterns and forms. From syrups, cruets, and toothpick holders to water pitchers, cake and banana stands, and pickle casters will be represented. Additional stained glass from the Kleppinger collection will be sold on July 29 and September 28-29 of 2017.
