Circus painting may lead online-only auction May 12

A painting of a circus scene by a noted illustrator of Saturday Evening Post covers is among the lots featured in Wolfs Fine Paintings and Sculpture May 12 online-only auction.

CLEVELAND – Unanticipated receipt of a unique estate has prompted a spring online-only auction through Wolfs Fine Painting and Sculpture. The estate features art, antique furniture and decorative arts from Britain, Europe and Asia. Augmenting the sale is a small collection of 20th century American paintings.

Sights Set on Circus Scene

American paintings include a circus scene by gifted artist and Saturday
Evening Post illustrator Henry James Soulen (American, 1888-1965) and an early
20th century eye popping impressionist landscape by Henry MacGinnis
(American, 1875–1962).

Examples of rare Chinese embroidery include an intricate monumental, 19th century stitched composition of exotic birds within a plush landscape of pulsating flora and fauna reaching 15 feet in length.

Other interesting decorative arts include the most graceful large
Portuguese silver swan by Luiz Ferreira (Portuguese, 1909–1994).

Diverse Furniture Offerings

Within the grouping of Continental and British furniture is a superb early Italian walnut side table and various English bachelors chests, game tables and early cabinets.

The catalog for this online-only auction will be posted May 4 and will be visible at www.wolfsgallery.com in addition to LiveAuctioneers.com and Bidsquare.com.

The auction will close on Saturday May 12, 2018.
