Online auction company offering ephemera galore

Over & Above Online Auction will host its inaugural auction April 29, bringing forth art, advertising, and a diverse selection of ephemera.

TIMONIUM, Md. – On April 29, auction newcomer Over & Above Online Auction is hosting an auction of Art, Advertising, and a Menagerie of Ephemera. The online-only auction begins at noon Eastern Time. Participants can bid absentee, on Hibid and bid live through LiveAuctioneers.

New Firm Hosts Inaugural Auction

This Adrien Barrere’s irreverent depiction of various medical professionals encased in test tubes is on offer. This caricature of physicians, features a charming Remarque which depicts a nude in a petri dish. Barrere was a well known caricaturist and poster artist during the Belle Epoche.

The ephemera auction includes many collectible paper and cardboard items: advertising signs, maps, engravings and lithographs, historical documents, early photographs, books, posters, catalogs, trade brochures, postcards, trade cards, and more.

Bidders will find there is a huge amount of “collectible crossover” in the offered material. Toy collectors will find this sale features early train and toy catalogs, including Hubley, Metalcraft, Lionel and American Flyer. Advertising buyers will find this sale features Coca- Cola cardboard signs, advertising easel backs, trade cards, as well as illustration art mock-ups for advertising products and displays. Car and automotive fans will find illustration art, as well as brochures for vintage cars, automotive safety posters, gas and oil company sponsored ephemera, and similar items. An illustrated catalog for carriages will also be offered in this auction, presenting a rare glimpse into American transportation history.

Illustration Art Celebrates Aviation, Circus History

Aviation fans will find Boeing illustration art, and early airline brochures and ephemera. Other items of interest include early circus posters, early photographs featuring horse drawn circus wagons and calliopes, and ephemera. Artwork, including early 19th century engravings, prints and lithographs will be offered. Also included is the iconic photograph of FDR’s funeral as featured in Life Magazine, photographed and signed by Edward Clark.
