Early 19th century Feuillet porcelain plates may sell for $6,000
A set of 12 French Feuillet porcelain dessert plates, circa 1825, may command between $4,000 and $6,000 during the April 14 ceramics auction, being presented by Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates.
MARCH 19, 2015, MT. CRAWFORD, VA --- Several fine private collections amassed over years of time form the back-bone of the exciting 18th and 19th Century Ceramics auction to be held at Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates April 14. Following the strong
success of last spring’s selection of items from the collection of George & Mickey Deike, the auction house will be holding Part II of the Deike’s collection of Peafowl, shell-edge and Prattware-decorated English Pottery.
The English pottery selection also includes a large collection as well as several other smaller personal collections of mocha; creamware; pearlware; canary yellow; lusterware; commemorative and historical items; Flow Blue, English and American historical and rural transfer-printed wares as well as Japaneseque pottery and children’s wares.
The auction starts with a small but very strong selection of 18th and 19th Century porcelain. Lot 1 is a Chelsea gold-ground beaker decorated with finely-painted birds; and Lot 2 is a Bristol teapot, cover and stand, formerly in the Trapnell collection, with a gilt strap-work band identical to that of the Ludlow service, but without bearing arms. Following these is a group of Worcester porcelain wares, including a large polychrome-painted basket (lot 3).
Within the Continental porcelain offerings, an extraordinary group of twelve green-ground plates centering flowers by Feuillet. The Vieux Paris plates are lavishly-decorated with ciselè and rouletted 24 karat gold paste to the rims.
For those who would like to improve their scholarship in the area of the ceramics, the auction also offers two libraries of books, assembled from the 1960s to today. Topics covered include Belleek; Chelsea; Creamware; Delft and many other ceramic specialty areas.
