Cartier shell-form bracelet could polish off $6,000
An 18-karat yellow gold shell-form link bracelet by Cartier is one of hundreds of antique, retro, costume and designer jewelry set to sell Dec. 6 through John Moran Auctioneers.
MONROVIA, Calif. – A unique shell-form bracelet by Cartier is among the unique offerings coming from John Moran Auctioneers. The Dec. 6 auction, which begins promptly at noon Pacific Time, features a lineup of examples from leading design houses including Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Contemporary Cartier Bracelet
One of the many catalog highlights is a 1970s shell-form bracelet by Cartier. The oversize shell-
shaped links rendered in 18-karat yellow gold offer a prime example of the classic style of Cartier design. It is sure to catch the eye of a lucky collector with a $4,000 to $6,000 estimate. Italian design house Buccellati is responsible for a fine sapphire and diamond ring on offer. A raised openwork setting gives a twist to the oval sapphire with a diamond surround design. It also boasts a natural unheated Ceylon sapphire as its centerpiece. It's estimate is $12,000 to $15,000.
Antique jewels on offer include an antique Swiss gemstone and Geneva enamel bracelet dating to circa 1830. This example depicts young ladies dressed in regional costume with their respective cantons noted on the reverse. Heading into auction, the estimate is $8,000 to $12,000.
Watch enthusiasts will be interested in a Le Coultre gold minute repeater Chronograph pocket watch, which boasts both a triple calendar and moon-phase movement, and is estimated at $18,000 to $24,000.
Collectors of jewelry in the Edwardian and Art Deco taste will be happy to see the eras are well represented in the auction, with a selection of rings, bracelets and earrings to match any taste.

Moran’s Dec. 6 schedule also includes a Decorative Art Auction, scheduled for 5:30 p.m., which will feature 20th century American design and art pottery, Arts & Crafts furniture and objects, Western and Native American items, and Mid-Century Modern design and artworks. At 8 p.m., Moran’s will also offer nine lots for their Important Chinese Objects auction, including selections from the collection of Andrew F. Chandler.
