A matched pair of Louis XV-style ormolu mounted and marquetry inlaid jardinière tables and a Louis XVI-style ormolu mounted and marquetry inlaid curved front desk is expected to vie for top lot during the Oct. 4-5 Fall Auction, offered by Ahlers & Ogletree.

ATLANTA, Ga. — Examples of mid-19th century American furniture by renowned makers such as Prudent Mallard and J. & J.W. Meeks, plus equally impressive pieces of 19th century French furniture, are just a few of the more than 1,000 lots that will come up for bid at Ahlers & Ogletree’s Fall Estates Auction, slated for Oct. 4-5.

The event will be held at Ahlers & Ogletree’s gallery at 715 Miami Circle (Suite 210) in Atlanta, and will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern time both days. Phone and absentee bids will be taken up to 24 hours prior to the sale, and Internet bidding will be facilitated by LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com.

In addition to American and French furniture, the sale also features a collection of antique Persian rugs, watches and other estate jewelry, landscape paintings by noted Austrian artists, scientific objects, sterling silver, Flora Danica china and decorative objects, among others.

Furniture by the mid-19th century New Orleans craftsman Prudent Mallard comprises a pair of American Rococo Revival pieces: a carved rosewood dressing bureau with serpentine- shaped white marble top, and a carved rosewood single-door armoire with a hinged mirrored door that opens to a shelved interior. Also from Mallard is a carved rosewood canopied half tester bed.
