Peerless blue diamond platinum ring commands $675,000

Sparkling diamonds in an array of colors paired with platinum drew bidder interest during Heritage Auctions’ Fine Jewelry Auction Sept. 25. The leading lot was a blue diamond and diamond platinum ring, fetching $675,000.

DALLAS, Texas — Colored diamonds excelled in Heritage Auctions’ $5.1 million Fine Jewelry offering Sept. 25 in Beverly Hills. The top lot of the auction is a breathtaking 3.23-carat fancy blue diamond, diamond, platinum ring. A final bid of $675,000 took the ring.

Brilliant, Breathtaking Blue

“The collector demand for colored diamonds has never been higher,” said Jill Burgum, Senior Director of Jewelry at Heritage Auctions. “We didn’t see just one or two bidders pursue these special gemstones. We saw several bidders competing for the best of the best.”

A 5.04-carat intense purplish-pink diamond, diamond ring reached $372,500. An oval modified brilliant-cut yellow diamond, diamond, platinum, gold ring saw $93,750.

Captivating large-carat lots exceeded auction estimates. A Rolex lady's diamond, white gold Pearlmaster watch sold for $62,500 against a $10,000 estimate. The watch presents with a total weight of 5.80 carats A 4.66-carat Burma sapphire, diamond, platinum ring by Bvlgari brought $57,500. An impressive, 7.48-carat intense yellow diamond, white gold ring ended at $55,000.

This 7.20-carat pear-shaped diamond and platinum ring sold for $52,500.

enhanced by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of 7.00 carats, sold for $52,500. A pear-shaped diamond, platinum ring weighing 7.20 carats, enhanced by round brilliant-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 1.30 carats, sold for $52,500. A showy diamond, platinum ring changed hands for $51,250. The ring features a 5.01-carat radiant-cut diamond enhanced by triangle-cut diamonds.

Additional highlights include:
• The Alhambra by Van Cleef & Arpels – a diamond, white gold necklace featuring full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 8.00 carats – realized $43,750.

— A dazzling, convertible diamond, platinum necklace, featuring baguette and full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 52.00 carats, ended at $40,000.

• Weighing 5.19 carats, a gentleman's diamond, gold ring, centered by a brilliant-cut diamond, sold for $37,500.

— The Crown of Light©-cut diamond, an unmounted stone weighing 4.49 carats, sold for $37,500.
