Button collectors gather Aug. 4-6

DENVER — People of all walks of life with a shared interest in antique and vintage clothing and uniform buttons will converge upon Denver, Colorado Aug. 4-6 for the National Button Show. It is expected that more than 500,000 buttons will be available to view and purchase during this annual event.

Collectors are discovering that these are not the ordinary buttons found in jars at flea markets, garage sales and some antique shops. These are unique, beautiful miniature works of art and sometimes curiosity with a special connection to history. These buttons are attracting a wide variety of collectors including crafters, jewelry makers and decorative artists in addition to those whose interests are strictly in preserving, studying and enjoying buttons as items of personal interest.

The show, which is hosted by the National Button Society (NBS) includes showroom hours of 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The show will be held at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center, 15500 E. 40th, Denver, Colorado. In addition to the showroom displays and dealer booths, a variety of educational programs, including Mexican Silver Buttons, Let’s Talk About Minerals, Diggin’ for Digs, and Making Button Dolls, will be open to NBS members and the public.

Expert dealers and collectors are available to review collections of buttons brought in by members of the public, and membership in the NBS can be obtained during the show.
