1,200-lot decorative arts sale slated for Sept. 14-15

Decorative arts items including toleware, stoneware, folk arts, and ironwork, among others will headline a 1,200-lot auction scheduled for Sept. 14-15 at Pook & Pook Inc.

14-15. Offering a combined 1,200 lots, these two days feature a variety of unique items on mark with a range of budgets.

The first day of the decorative arts auction kicks off with more 60 lots of spatterware. Country and folk items including large amounts of ironwork, toleware, stoneware, chalkware, and painted items will be presented. Plus, furniture, artwork, and more than 50 lots of quilts, including several Amish and early 20th century examples, are scheduled for sale.

Bidding options include in-person at the Pook & Pook Gallery at 463 East Lancaster Dr., in Downingtown, Pa., telephone, absentee or online at Bidsquare.com.

Thursday, Sept. 15, things veer away from a decorative arts sale, and takes on a different tone with a large assortment of sterling silver. The 100-plus lots include a Tiffany & Co. silver tea kettle and stand, as well as multiple tea sets and other tableware.

The silver is followed by several fine jewelry pieces and a group of unique book offerings. Bidders will be faced with classic first editions and signed works by Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, George Bernard Shaw, Joseph Conrad, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Charles Dickens. The sale wraps with a group of match safes, or vesta cases.
