THOMASTON, Maine — Now through Wednesday, May 8, Thomaston Place Auction Galleries presents “Collectors’ Choice,” an online only auction offering rare and collectible objects sure to interest hobbyists and decorators alike – and all items with modest opening bids.
The online auction is being conducted simultaneously on three online auction sites: Thomaston Live, LiveAuctioneers, and Invaluable.
This 462-lot sale includes a diverse selection of paintings and sculpture, Asian antiques, rare books, photos and documents, jewelry, art glass, porcelain and pottery, furniture, silver, contemporary and antiquarian prints, toys, and many decorative pieces.

“Tree Line Above Lake, Vermont,” a watercolor by Hayley Lever (NY/MA/UK, 1876-1958), a 20th century Chinese yellow and blue porcelain double gourd vase with Qianlong mark, a mid-19th century ambrotype of a man in traditional Penobscot Indian costume, a 1300-1400 AD Chancay pottery anthropomorphic form amphora, a tortoiseshell pastille box commemorating the marriage of Emperor Napoleon I and Marie-Louise of Austria in 1810, a ship model of the two-mast schooner “Nancy,” a circa 1810 Federal gilded bull’s eye mirror, a pair of 19th century Staffordshire pottery standing whippet dog figures, a lot of two late 19th century American silver mugs, and a large international stamp collection in albums and trays.
Items to be sold can be viewed online now at any of the three auction websites. Participants can register and place pre-auction (or absentee) bids from now to the start of the live auction. When the live auction begins, at 10 a.m. EST on May 8, registered participants may bid live online as each item comes up for sale.
