Luxe decor brings strong results at Andrew Jones Auctions

Andrew Jones Auctions’ Oct. 21 and Nov. 18 auctions offered fine art and design, as well as luxe decor and unique finds, enticing bidders to action.

LOS ANGELES – Andrew Jones Auctions’ Oct. 21 sustainable living and budget friendly DTLA Collections and Estates auction drew a diverse crowd in the room and online achieving a sell through rate of 95 percent. DTLA Collections and Estates Auctions are Andrew Jones Auctions' venue for selling "fun, quirky and out-of-the-ordinary accessories and furnishings, as well as antiques and luxe decor for the home, garden, loft, gallery or retail space, all at reasonable prices."

The firm's gallery is located at 2221 South Main Street in Los Angeles.

There were some deals and steals to be had, but the sale also achieved impressive prices. 

A German Expressionist painting of factory workers by Anton “Toni” Wolter (1879-1929) sold for $1,060 and an Italian School painting of a Venice canal at night realized $2,250.

A prime example of luxe decor: A large suite of Michael Taylor “Montecito” garden furniture more than tripled its estimate and sold for $4,500.

An Art Deco style patinated metal ceiling fixture in the manner of Edgar Brandt realized $1,060.

And an Art Nouveau pictorial marquetry tray by Emile Gallé achieved $800.

Nov. 18 Design for the Home auction

Pair of French first standard silver and ruby glass vases designed by Jean Puiforcat of Paris, $28,750.

The firm followed the Oct. 21 sale with its Nov. 18 holiday edition of the Design for the Home & Garden Auction. The auction was held online, via LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com, and in the firm’s aforementioned gallery.

The Nov. 18 auction comprised a selection of more than 350 lots of decorative and fine art, furniture, silver, modern design, fine jewelry, and Asian works of art.

Lots garnering much attention include an ornate bronze birdcage hook from the Hart collection, which realized $11,050 and a pair of rock crystal wall lights in the manner of Maison Bagues that achieved $5,250.
