Colonial currency appearing in online sale May 23

Colonial coins and currency will make more than an appearance at Pook & Pook, Inc.’s May 26 online-only coin and jewelry auction, they’ll kick things off in classic style.

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – Pook & Pook, Inc. is presenting its Online Only Coins & Jewelry auction on Wednesday, May 23. Beginning at 9 a.m., this sale will span over 500 lots and includes a number of distinctive items, including Colonial currency, many on the market for the first time in years.

Colonial Currency Kicks Off 500+ Lot Auction

Colonial to modern commemorative coins and currency will be on offer May 26.

The sale commences with currency, with items on offer sure to tempt both the novice collector and the life-long connoisseur. United States currency, both old and new, appears in the beginning of the sale. This includes Canadian, Mexican, and South African currencies, among others. Colonial currency, including a 1767 Maryland one dollar will be present. In addition, a 1776 Philadelphia seven dollar is on offer. Plus, a 1777 Delaware half crown will draw in numismatists eager to own early American tender.

Lots containing Confederate currency from Virginia, Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia will no doubt pique the interest of curious collectors. The features include a group of three New Orleans Canal Bank notes. In addition, a Bank of East Tennessee $20 note is sure to fascinate. Plus, a Bank of Hartford County $5 note is up for bid. In addition, gold collectors will find the 1902 $10 Liberty Head gold coin and the 1923 St. Gaudens $20 gold coin of particular interest.

The second half of the sale will consist largely of jewelry, with items offered at various prices to fit every budget.
